Over 100 aid organizations, including Doctors Without Borders and Oxfam, have issued a dire warning that "mass starvation" is spreading across the Gaza Strip, with their own staff experiencing acute shortages. This comes amidst mounting international pressure on Israel regarding the catastrophic humanitarian situation affecting over two million Palestinians.

Despite Israel easing an aid blockade in late May, residents still face extreme scarcities and are frequently killed while attempting to collect aid, with the UN reporting over 1,000 Palestinians killed trying to get food aid since late May. The aid groups accuse the Israeli government's "siege" of starving the people and preventing access to tonnes of supplies in warehouses. They are calling for an immediate negotiated ceasefire, the opening of all land crossings, and the free flow of aid through UN-led mechanisms, rejecting military-controlled distribution models

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres described the "horror" in Gaza as "unprecedented." The head of Gaza's largest hospital recently stated that 21 children had died due to malnutrition and starvation in just three days
