Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has stressed that fatwas must reflect current real-world issues and be based on thorough analysis by qualified experts. After a meeting with the Penang State Fatwa Committee, Anwar highlighted the importance of fatwas that are relevant to local and contemporary contexts. He also emphasized enhancing Islamic scholarship, especially in fiqh, maqasid shariah, and fatwa-related research to better serve the Muslim community.
