The grandfather of Zayn Rayyan, the autistic six-year-old who was found dead, told the Sessions Court that Zayn's parents, Zaim Ikhwan and Ismanira Abdul Manaf, were loving and devoted, denying any neglect or harm. Zahari Mohd Reba, 57, described Zayn as deeply bonded with his parents and said the couple treated both their children equally.

Ismanira is currently defending herself against a charge of child neglect, while her husband was discharged and acquitted. The alleged offence occurred between December 5 and 6, 2023, near their Damansara Damai residence. If convicted, Ismanira faces up to 20 years in jail, a fine of RM50,000, or both. The trial continues.
