SINGAPORE — Singapore has called on Cambodia and Thailand to immediately de-escalate rising border tensions and resolve the conflict through diplomatic channels, following deadly clashes near the disputed Preah Vihear area.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) expressed deep concern over the violence and urged both sides to exercise restraint and protect civilians.

No Singaporeans have been reported injured, but MFA advised citizens to avoid border areas and stay alert, follow local authority guidance, and monitor news updates closely.

The conflict flared up again Thursday, with both nations blaming each other for the latest exchange of fire, which has intensified since a Cambodian soldier was killed in May.
