GEORGE TOWN: Six people were injured, five of them seriously, in a series of accidents involving five vehicles at three separate locations here last night.

The crashes, which occurred between 8.30pm and 9pm, began at the Jalan Perak traffic light junction and ended along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway heading towards Batu Uban.

Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the series of collisions involved a Proton X70 SUV, a Perodua Myvi, a Honda City, a Honda Vario motorcycle and a Honda C100 motorcycle.

"Initial investigations showed the incident began when the Proton X70 crashed into the rear of a Perodua Myvi at the Jalan Perak traffic light junction," he said.
