Heavy rain has intensified across Beijing and northern Chinese provinces, leading to severe flooding and landslides. Over 4,400 people have been relocated in Beijing's Miyun district due to flash floods, submerged vehicles, and power outages affecting over 10,000 residents. The Miyun reservoir's inflow reached a record high.

Neighboring Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces are also experiencing inundation and have issued flood warnings. In Hebei province, two deaths and two missing persons have been reported, with one area experiencing a record 145mm of rain per hour.

China's Water Resources Ministry has issued flood warnings for 11 provinces, and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has allocated 50 million yuan (RM29.5 million) to Hebei for infrastructure repairs and recovery efforts. These extreme weather events, part of the East Asian monsoon and potentially linked to global warming, are challenging China's flood defenses and impacting its agricultural sector.
