Man Arrested for Hammer Attack on Child in Johor Bahru
Police have arrested a 39-year-old man in Johor Bahru following the alleged attack of a 12-year-old girl with an iron hammer. The arrest came after a graphic video of the injured child, covered in blood, went viral on Facebook's Community Roda Johor CRJ page.
North Johor Bahru police chief ACP Balveer Singh stated the assault occurred on July 26 at the Ungku Tun Aminah flats. The suspect was apprehended at his home the same evening after a public report.
The victim, who sustained head lacerations and swelling on her right hand, is currently in stable condition at Hospital Sultanah Aminah.
Authorities revealed the suspect has a history of drug offenses and tested positive for methamphetamine. He has been remanded for seven days since July 27, facing charges under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon.
