KUALA LUMPUR: Independent shuttler Cheam June Wei has won the Lin Dan Cup men's singles title an unprecedented three times.
The world No. 79 battled from a game down to stun home favourite Wu Kai'an 11-15, 15-13, 15-9 in the final in Jincheng, China today.
In the semi-finals, June Wei defeated China's Zhou Zeqi, while fellow Malaysian Aidil Sholeh Ali Sadikin fell to Wu Kai'an.
The 28-year-old took home 200,000 yuan (RM118,000) in prize money.
"Third time, hopefully more to come," June Wei said on Instagram.
