KUALA LUMPUR: Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas) is implementing extra safety measures, including the installation of additional fencing, to enhance the safety of the Damansara-Shah Alam Highway (DASH) highway users.

This follows the death of a 19-year-old yesterday, who flung off the highway and onto a grassy area on Persiaran Pulau Angsa.

In a statement to the New Straits Times, Prolintas said its elevated curve sections, were built in full compliance with specifications approved by the authorities and certified engineers.

"We extend our condolences to the victim's family and will implement additional safety measures.

"While the design of the highway meets all requirements, we have taken proactive steps such as installing extra warning signs at strategic locations, enhancing public awareness efforts, and planning the installation of additional fencing to further improve safety," the statement read.

Prolintas also said it has handed over all evidence, including surveillance footage, to the authorities to assist in their investigation.

Yesterday, a private college student died when riding his motorcycle on the 1/B 0.5 exit ramp of the DASH highway, coming from Persiaran Mokhtar Dahari.

The victims is believed to have lost control on a bend, crashed, and hit a divider.

The police chief urged witnesses to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Nur Iqmal Maisarah Azman, at 017-2836851 to help with the investigation.

This marks the third fatal accident on the highway this year.

On July 26, a 23-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle skidded and plunged off the highway.

On Feb 26, a woman was killed after being thrown off the highway when she lost control of her motorcycle on a bend before hitting a car.
