A massive fire broke out at a two-storey building along Jalan Mahkota in Kuantan on Tuesday night, destroying several shop lots and causing significant damage. The Pahang Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 8.46pm, and firefighters rushed to the scene. By 10.30pm, a carpet and frame shop on the ground floor was reported 90% destroyed, with flames spreading to an upper-floor association office and another nearby shop. Director Datuk Mohd Razam Taja Rahim confirmed that firefighting efforts were still ongoing late into the night. Thankfully, no injuries or casualties have been reported. The cause of the fire and the total losses are currently under investigation. The incident has left business owners and residents shaken, highlighting the risks faced by aging shop buildings in the area.
