The Road Transport Department (RTD) has seized 274 commercial vehicles and issued over 13,000 summonses in a nationwide crackdown under Ops Gempur Kenderaan Perdagangan, launched on September 1. Senior enforcement director Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan revealed that 133,598 vehicles have been inspected so far, with the operation set to continue until December 31. Offences range from technical violations to serious breaches of road safety regulations. Kifli stressed that the high number of summonses highlights widespread non-compliance among commercial drivers and vehicle owners, despite long-standing road laws. The operation aims to boost road safety and accountability in the commercial transport sector.
