In George Town, the Langur Project Penang is turning to comics to educate the public on peaceful and responsible coexistence with urban monkeys. While feeding monkeys may seem harmless or kind, it can actually harm their health, disrupt natural behavior, and even cause long-term genetic issues. The project’s creative approach uses engaging, illustrated stories to raise awareness — especially among children — about why feeding wildlife does more harm than good. Through humor and relatable characters, the comics highlight the importance of keeping a safe distance and letting monkeys forage naturally. It’s art with a mission: fostering understanding, respect, and better human-animal interactions in Malaysia’s increasingly urbanized landscapes.
