A 30-year zoo veteran was fatally mauled by lions at Safari World Bangkok, one of Asia’s largest open-air zoos, officials confirmed Wednesday. The incident occurred when the staff member who regularly fed the lions stepped out of his vehicle and was attacked by six or seven of the big cats. The tragedy has sparked serious concerns about safety protocols and the legitimacy of the park’s lion ownership. Safari World, known for its lion- and tiger-feeding tours, charges visitors around 1,200 baht (US$37). Authorities are now investigating the park’s practices and animal management.
