Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow announced that a water-sharing agreement with Perak under the Northern Perak Water Supply Scheme is expected to be signed within two to three months. The project aims to transfer raw water from Sungai Perak for treatment and use in both states. Chow expressed optimism that the deal would be finalized before the end of the year, following the start of formal negotiations in August. Two meetings have already taken place, and discussions are ongoing. The project is tentatively slated for completion by 2031.
