Universiti Malaya (UM) has clarified that achieving perfect exam scores does not guarantee automatic entry through its conditional intake process. Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Seri Dr Noor Azuan Abu Osman said all new student admissions go through the central UPU system, with UM offering an additional 20 to 50 conditional direct offers after the appeal period ends. These offers are not automatic and require students to apply through UM’s open channel. “Students must still apply. Meeting the requirements is just one part of the process,” he explained, adding that all applicants are ranked using the same criteria as UPU.
