Ex-headmaster charged after online threats to forensic pathologist in Zara Qairina inquest

A former headmaster, Kamul Kamarudin, 61, was charged in the Kota Kinabalu Sessions Court today for allegedly sending threatening messages to Dr Jessie Hiu, a forensic pathologist involved in the inquest into the death of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir. He pleaded not guilty before Judge Marlina Ibrahim. Kamul is accused under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for initiating offensive or threatening communication. If convicted, he faces up to one year in jail, a fine of up to RM50,000, and an additional RM1,000 per day for continued offences after conviction.
