Penang Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Mohamad Abdul Hamid clarified today that a viral video alleging a food outlet in Bayan Lepas used a fake halal certificate actually stems from an incident in July. The Penang Islamic Religious Affairs Department (JHEAIPP) conducted an inspection on July 8 at a stall located on Level 3 of Queensbay Mall, not the LOTUS supermarket at Sungai Dua as claimed. Authorities found the outlet did not possess a Malaysian Halal Certification (SPHM) and had stopped displaying a previously shown SPHM copy from Nafas Food Processing and Marketing Sdn Bhd.
