Three police officers were fatally shot and two others injured in a deadly ambush in rural Pennsylvania while serving an arrest warrant for suspected stalker Matthew Ruth. The 24-year-old opened fire with an assault-style rifle as officers approached a farmhouse in North Codorus Township, about 100 miles west of Philadelphia. Ruth, who was killed in the ensuing gunfight, had been accused of stalking, trespassing, and prowling at the home of his ex-girlfriend and her mother. The victims included officers from the North York County Regional Police and York County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities described the incident as a premeditated and deadly trap.
