The Immigration Department has dismissed 20 officers involved in a “counter setting” corruption syndicate, with 227 others still under investigation. Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban confirmed that the dismissals followed court convictions and internal disciplinary findings. He noted that the disciplinary process can be lengthy due to the need for thorough evidence gathering. During ongoing investigations, some officers faced suspension, demotion, or salary deductions.
