St Mirren edged past Kilmarnock in a tense Premier Sports Cup quarter-final, winning via a flawless penalty shootout at Rugby Park. Malik Dijksteel scored the decisive penalty after Kyle Magennis missed for Kilmarnock, securing St Mirren’s first return to Hampden since 2021. Goals from Mikael Mandron and Jayden Richardson put St Mirren ahead twice, but Kilmarnock fought back through Robbie Deas and a late Bruce Anderson penalty to force extra time. Despite a fiercely contested match described by Kilmarnock boss Stuart Kettlewell as a “coin toss,” neither side could find a winner before the shootout. St Mirren now look forward to the semi-final draw on Saturday.
