Qingzhou Wang, a Chinese company executive, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for trafficking chemicals used to manufacture fentanyl, according to the US Justice Department. Wang, principal executive of Amarvel Biotech in Wuhan, and marketing manager Yiyi Chen were convicted in New York of importing fentanyl precursors and money laundering. Chen received a 15-year sentence earlier this month. The Drug Enforcement Administration condemned their actions, highlighting how the executives turned the company into a “pipeline of poison,” shipping large quantities of fentanyl-related chemicals disguised as everyday goods and profiting via cryptocurrency.
