KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia has voiced deep concern after the UN Security Council vetoed a resolution calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza and the lifting of humanitarian aid restrictions. In a strongly worded statement, the Foreign Ministry said the veto undermines global efforts to stop what the UN Commission of Inquiry has identified as acts of genocide in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. “The veto only emboldens the Israeli Zionist regime,” the ministry stated, pointing to recent ground assaults that have killed more civilians and displaced over 450,000 Palestinians amid worsening famine conditions.
