KUALA LUMPUR — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has announced that the proposal to establish an Asean Halal Council will be a key agenda item at the upcoming Asean Summit in October. Highlighting the vast potential of the region's halal market, Zahid said the council would help unify standards and boost halal trade across Asean’s 640 million-strong population. He also revealed that Vietnam has been invited to participate in shaping this initiative, which aims to create mutual economic benefits and elevate Asean’s position in the global halal industry.
