RM3.5m from Special Plate Sales to Protect 50,000 Drivers, Says Loke

BUTTERWORTH — The Transport Ministry has allocated RM3.5 million from special vehicle plate sales to fund the Self-Employed Social Security Scheme (LINDUNG Kendiri), benefiting 50,000 taxi, rental car, and school bus drivers across Malaysia. Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that the scheme, covering 70% of contributions, will be implemented by the Human Resources Ministry through Perkeso starting January 1, 2025. The initiative aims to enhance social protection and financial security for self-employed drivers nationwide.
