KUALA LUMPUR: Defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) advanced to the FA Cup quarter-finals after outplaying UM-Damansara United at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium today.

JDT won the second leg 5-3 for a 10-3 aggregate win in the first round.

The Southern Tigers opened the scoring in the third minute through Romel Morales before Manuel Hidalgo and Heberty Fernandes struck in the eighth and 15th minute respectively.

JDT took their foot off the pedal in the second half, and this saw a fightback from A1 Semi-Pro League side Damansara.

A lapse in concentration from JDT young goalkeeper Cristian Aman saw Michael Ogwuche pouncing for Damansara's first goal in the 62nd minute.

Anuar Ceesay further reduced the deficit with his brace in the 66th and 74th minutes, and this snapped JDT from their slumber.

Morales ended up with a hat-trick for JDT with his goals in the 71st and 90t+4 minutes.
