KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's campaign in the men's doubles stayed firmly on track at the Arctic Open as top seeds Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and rising pair Choong Hon Jian-Haikal Nazri powered their way into the quarter-finals in Vantaa, Finland, on Thursday.

Top seeds Aaron-Wooi Yik were tested before prevailing 15-21, 21-14, 21-14 against compatriots and former national teammates Low Hang Yee-Ng Eng Cheong in their first-ever World Tour meeting.

Aaron-Wooi Yik took 53 minutes to secure the victory at Energie Areena.

Aaron-Wooi Yik, eyeing their fourth title of the season after wins at the Asia Championships, Thailand Open and Singapore Open, will next face Taiwan's world No. 22 Liu Kuan Heng-Yang Po Han.

The Malaysians hold a 2-0 head-to-head record but will remain cautious after surviving a tense first-round battle against the same pair at last month's China Masters, winning 23-21, 19-21, 21-19.

Meanwhile, Hon Jian-Haikal continued their fine run with another spirited comeback, defeating France's world No. 35 Eloi Adam-Leo Rossi 12-21, 21-10, 21-16.

The world No. 47 have been impressive all week, backing up their first-round upset of China's world No. 16 Huang Di-Liu Yang with another composed display.

Hon Jian-Haikal will next face Denmark's world No. 3 Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen for the first time as they bid to reach their first Super 500 semi-final since the Australian Open last year.

Arif Junaidi-Yap Roy King failed to replicate their upset win over Astrup-Rasmussen at the Hong Kong Open last month, going down 13-21, 21-12, 13-21 this time.

The Danes now lead their head-to-head 3-1.
