Bandar Utama school stabbing: Teen’s post-mortem done, body claimed by family, police say

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat said the body of the 16-year-old schoolgirl, who was fatally stabbed in Bandar Utama, was claimed by her family this morning after the post-mortem at UMMC.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — The body of the 16-year-old schoolgirl who was fatally stabbed at a secondary school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya yesterday has been claimed by her family.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said the victim’s remains were claimed by her family at about 7.30am today after a post-mortem was completed at the Pathology Department of Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC).

“The victim’s body has been claimed by her family. 

Further developments will be shared by Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar during a press conference at 11.30am,” he said briefly when contacted by Harian Metro.

Meanwhile, it is understood that the remand application process for the suspect has been completed, with details expected to be disclosed at the upcoming press conference.

Police yesterday confirmed that a 16-year-old female student at a secondary school in Bandar Utama was fatally stabbed by a male classmate.

The attack reportedly took place in or near the girls’ toilet of SMK Bandar Utama 4 on Tuesday morning. 

Initial investigations found that the victim had suffered multiple stab wounds. 

Two sharp weapons believed to have been used in the incident were recovered at the scene.

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail confirmed that a 14-year-old boy had been detained in connection with the case.
