King honours Chief of Defence Force with top gallantry award on Armed Forces Day

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today bestowed the Darjah Panglima Gagah Angkatan Tentera (PGAT) gallantry award on Chief of Defence Force Gen Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaafar.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 15 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today bestowed the Darjah Panglima Gagah Angkatan Tentera (PGAT) gallantry award on Chief of Defence Force Gen Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaafar.

He led 100 military officers and personnel in receiving the Darjah Kepahlawanan Angkatan Tentera Malaysia awards from His Majesty at the Balairung Seri, Istana Negara here.

The investiture was held in conjunction with the 92nd Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) Day celebration to recognise the dedication and sacrifices of officers and personnel who have served the nation with distinction.

His Majesty also presented the PGAT award to Chief of Air Force Gen Datuk Seri Muhamad Norazlan Aris.

Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, attended the investiture.

Also present were Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Defence Ministry secretary-general Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali.

Sultan Ibrahim, who is the Supreme Commander of the Malaysian Armed Forces, also presented the honorary PGAT award to four top military commanders from foreign countries.

They were Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander Gen Agus Subiyanto, Royal Cambodian Army Commander Gen Mao Sophan, Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Air Force Air Chief Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono, and Chief of the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Maj Gen Kelvin Fan Sui Siong.

Twenty people received the Darjah Panglima Setia Angkatan Tentera; 18, Pahlawan Angkatan Tentera; 28, Kesatria Angkatan Tentera; and 28, Bentara Angkatan Tentera.
