GYEONGJU — A jacket stole the spotlight at a dinner ahead of the Apec summit in Gyeongju, South Korea, as Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong presented US President Donald Trump with a customised Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) bomber jacket — just like those worn by Singaporean pilots training in the United States.
The gesture came during a dinner hosted by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung yesterday, attended by leaders from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Wong described the gathering as “wide-ranging and engaging,” with conversations covering global developments, shared challenges, and opportunities ahead.
“Always valuable to exchange perspectives with friends and partners from around the world,” Wong wrote in a Facebook post.
Beyond the fashion moment, the dinner reinforced Singapore’s long-standing security partnership with the United States.
Wong expressed his country’s “deep appreciation” for American support of the Singapore Armed Forces’ training programmes in the US — a bond symbolised by the bomber jacket gift.
