KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 31 — Cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Vida has said she does not regret standing by her principles, despite her luxury items, including several cars, being auctioned off yesterday.
Vida, whose real name is Datuk Seri Hasmiza Othman, 54, said she remains firm in her decision even though she continues to bear the consequences.
“I really didn’t want to pay. Even though I could afford it, my heart ached.
“I paid the bank RM100,000 a month waiting for the project to be completed, but three years later, it’s still unfinished.
“If I paid, my reputation would lose its value. But if I fought, people would still criticise me.
“I remain strong because I believe we must look forward,” she said during a TikTok Live broadcast yesterday.
Earlier, all of Vida’s personal belongings, including three luxury vehicles, were successfully auctioned off for a total of RM1 million. The auction, held at her residence in Meru Heights, began around 10.30am and ended at about 1.40pm, involving two bidders who were also entrepreneurs.
Only one bidder, Norzamri Abdullah, successfully acquired all the listed items after the other bidder withdrew.
Among the items auctioned were a Toyota Vellfire, Toyota Grand Hiace and BMW X7, as well as 727 household items including sofa sets, dining tables, televisions, air conditioners, a telescope, electric guitars, a piano, a karaoke set, a pool table, wall decorations and vases.
