KUALA LUMPUR: Substitute Jairo da Silva produced a sensational hat-trick to steer Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) to a 5-0 rout of Terengganu in their Super League clash at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium on Friday.
The visitors made a flying start when Bergson Da Silva opened the scoring in the fifth minute to set the tone for another dominant performance.
The Southern Tigers doubled their lead in the 31st minute when Romel Morales slotted home from close range to give the defending champions a 2-0 advantage at half-time.
JDT continued to control the second half and made changes in the 60th minute, bringing on Jairo and Natxo Insa for Morales and Ager Aketxe.
Jairo made an immediate impact, scoring JDT's third goal just four minutes after coming on before adding his second in the 71st minute.
The Brazilian forward completed his hat-trick in the 77th minute to seal a comprehensive victory for the visitors.
The win strengthened JDT's position at the top of the Super League as they extended their unbeaten run to nine matches to collect 27 points.
JDT will next face Melaka at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on Nov 21, while Terengganu travel to meet Negri Sembilan on Nov 22.
