BANGKOK — Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek is set to make his first-ever appearance in Malaysia when he takes part in an exhibition match at Stadium Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur, on April 24, 2026.
Buakaw, one of Thailand’s most renowned Muay Thai exponents, will feature in the T-Fight All Star event organised by TFight Malaysia.
TFight Director Mohd Khairul Hafiz said Buakaw was selected as the headline fighter because he is an icon in the sport and many fans in Malaysia have yet to witness his skills in the ring.
“The exhibition will also feature 13 other combat sports exponents, including Malaysians and invited fighters from other countries,” he told Bernama during the signing ceremony between TFight and Buakaw held here recently.
Khairul said the event aims to promote Malaysia in conjunction with Visit Malaysia Year 2026 while showcasing Muay Thai to a wider audience.
“Malaysian combat sports fans will have the opportunity to experience a real Muay Thai performance by Buakaw in the ring. We also hope the event will increase public interest and encourage more people to take up the sport,” he said.
He added that ticket sales for the one-day exhibition have yet to open, but the organisers are targeting an attendance of more than 3,000 local and international visitors.
Meanwhile, Buakaw, 43, expressed his excitement about performing in Malaysia for the first time and promised to deliver an authentic Muay Thai showcase.
“I have never been to Malaysia, but I have heard the food is delicious. I’m looking forward to visiting Malaysia and putting on a great show,” he said.
Known for his explosive fighting style, agility and sportsmanship, Buakaw has won numerous titles throughout his illustrious career, including World Muay Thai Champion, K-1 World MAX Champion, and Thai Fight Tournament Champion.
