Power to Singapore’s Bangkit LRT station was reportedly cut late on October 27 after an intoxicated passenger fell onto the tracks, prompting an emergency rescue.

SINGAPORE, Nov 4 — Power to the Bangkit LRT station here was shut off late on October 27 after an intoxicated passenger fell onto the train tracks, prompting an emergency rescue.

Singapore Mass Rapid Transit (SMRT) said the incident occurred around 11.35pm, just minutes before the last train was scheduled to depart at 11.41pm, The Straits Times reported.

Staff immediately activated the emergency stop plunger to cut power and halted train services in the affected sector to prevent the person from being struck.

The passenger was reportedly later rescued and taken to hospital by the Singapore Civil Defence Force.

SMRT Trains president Lam Sheau Kai said trespassing on train tracks is illegal and poses serious safety risks to both individuals and commuters.

He added that a police report has been lodged over the incident.
