An Australian woman was arrested at Changi Airport last week after allegedly stealing anti-ageing supplements worth over S$500 (RM1,600) from a Guardian pharmacy in the transit area earlier this year.

SINGAPORE, Nov 11 — An Australian woman accused of stealing a box of anti-ageing supplements worth more than S$500 (RM1,600) from Changi Airport’s transit area earlier this year was arrested when she returned to Singapore several months later, CNA reported.

Singapore police said they were alerted to the theft on May 7, when staff at a Guardian pharmacy in Terminal 1 discovered a box of supplements, priced at S$507.30, missing from a display shelf.

CCTV footage allegedly showed the 51-year-old suspect leaving the outlet with the unpaid item on April 14. Police managed to establish her identity, but she had already left the country.

According to the Singapore-based media organisation, the woman was arrested on November 2 when she re-entered Singapore while transiting for another flight.

She is expected to be charged in court tomorrow for theft.

If convicted, she faces up to seven years in jail, a fine, or both.

In a statement, police stressed that they take a “serious view of shop thefts” and warned that offenders “will be dealt with firmly”.

“The police will continue to work closely with stakeholders and the community to prevent and deter cases of shop theft,” the statement added, as quoted by CNA.
