Malaysia achieved their record medal haul and smashed the 200-medal target at the 33rd SEA Games from 9-20 December 2025 in Thailand.

Over 1,000 athletes from the country travelled to Bangkok and Chonburi to represent the Malaysian flag in the multi-sport event, which took place for the first time since 2023 when it was hosted in Cambodia.

Malaysia improved on their 2023 medal haul, finishing fourth overall with a total of 231 medals: 57 golds, 57 silvers and 117 bronzes.

Swimmer Khiew Hoe Yean won four medals in the pool including the 200m and 400m freestyle titles, while Muhammad Irfan Shamsuddin won his seventh consecutive SEA discus title.
