The Ministry of Education announced the expansion of the Dual-Language Program (DLP) to all primary schools in Malaysia starting in 2026. This allows for the teaching of Science and Mathematics in both English and Bahasa Melayu. The government has allocated resources for teacher training and new digital textbooks to support this transition.

This policy shift is a response to feedback from parents who emphasized the importance of English proficiency in the modern workforce. By introducing these subjects in a bilingual format at a young age, the ministry hopes to build a stronger foundation for STEM education. It is expected to improve cognitive flexibility among students.

However, the implementation faces challenges in rural areas where the shortage of specialized teachers is most acute. To address this, the ministry is deploying "Mobile Training Units" to provide on-site support. The goal is to ensure that no student is left behind, making quality bilingual education a standard for every Malaysian child.
