Melaka’s iconic Jonker Walk has been transformed into a sea of red and gold as 2,026 lanterns were officially lit to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year. The display features a massive "Giant Horse" lantern, symbolizing strength and progress for the year 2026.

The lighting ceremony, held at midnight, attracted thousands of tourists and locals, marking a significant boost for Melaka's tourism sector. The local council has planned a month-long series of cultural performances and night markets to coincide with the festivities.
