Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), today urged the public to rely on official religious authorities rather than social media opinions to resolve complex issues. Speaking at the MAIWP Run 2026 in Putrajaya, he emphasized that the Federal Territory Mufti Department provides impartial guidance based on the Quran and Sunnah.

This reminder follows a recent debate regarding the use of Islamic terms by non-Muslims in daily conversation. The Mufti Department clarified that such usage is permissible as long as it is done with respect and does not involve insults or the misuse of religious concepts. The Minister stressed that turning to official channels is the best way to maintain social harmony and avoid unnecessary public controversy.

The government is working to ensure that religious discourse in Malaysia remains moderate and inclusive. By directing the public toward recognized scholars (Ulama Muktabar), the authorities hope to reduce the spread of misinformation and promote a better understanding of the country's diverse religious landscape.
