The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has begun the disbursement of the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) For All cash assistance today, February 9, 2026. This initiative, involving a massive RM2.2 billion allocation, is set to benefit over 22 million eligible adult Malaysian citizens. Under this program, each eligible MyKad holder receives a one-off payment of RM100, which can be utilized for essential purchases until the end of the year.
In a significant update based on public feedback, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the list of approved goods has been expanded to include frozen food items. This brings the total categories to 15, covering approximately 140,000 types of products. The government is also targeting an expansion of the merchant network, aiming to have 10,000 small grocery shops as SARA partners by year-end to improve accessibility for recipients in rural areas.
Recipients can verify their eligibility and find participating merchants through the official SARA portal. The MOF has issued a reminder for the public to remain vigilant against scams; official notifications regarding the aid will not ask for personal details via SMS or WhatsApp, and all authentic information will only be updated through the official STR and SARA portals.
