The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) is currently facing a leadership crisis following the recent en bloc resignation of several executive committee members. Today, Thai football heavyweight and former FIFA executive member Worawi Makudi publicly urged Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah to consider returning as FAM president to restore stability. This call has drawn regional attention to the governance issues currently plaguing Malaysian football.

Locally, Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) president Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman also cautioned against a "trial and error" approach to finding new leaders. He emphasized the need for a president with extensive international networking to handle ongoing scrutiny from FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The current crisis stems from a document scandal and allegations of falsification that led to recent sanctions.

Adding to the complexity, a Paralympics chief has also been tipped to contest the FAM presidency. With the national body under intense pressure, stakeholders are pushing for an experienced figurehead to steer Malaysian football through its most significant legal and administrative challenge in years.
