With Lee Zii Jia currently sidelined due to a fresh injury blow, the spotlight has shifted to Leong Jun Hao as he prepares for next week’s German Open. Jun Hao is now tasked with proving he deserves his new status as Malaysia’s top-ranked men’s singles shuttler in the national setup. 

In other badminton developments, 19-year-old Tan Kean Wei has officially joined the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) back-up squad. He was the only one of four independent players to accept a full-time offer following recent talent identification trials led by coaching director Kenneth Jonassen. Additionally, Teoh Mei Xing is making a comeback to mixed doubles following the resignation of her former women's doubles partner, Go Pei Kee.
