New Zealand secured a vital 61-run victory over Sri Lanka in their Group 2 Super Eight clash in Colombo last night. Chasing 169, Sri Lanka’s batting lineup collapsed under pressure, managing only 107/8 in their 20 overs. Rachin Ravindra was the star performer, earning Player of the Match honors for taking four wickets and delivering a strong all-round performance.

This loss officially knocks co-hosts Sri Lanka out of the tournament, while New Zealand moves significantly closer to a semifinal berth. Their final Super Eight match against England will now be the decisive factor in their progression. Earlier in the tournament, South Africa broke India's 12-match winning streak, leaving the Indian side battling for survival in a "grand scale" mess.

The tournament has been marked by high volatility in Group 2, with England also remaining a strong contender after a recent fightback against Sri Lanka. As the Super Eight stage nears its conclusion, the pressure is mounting on traditional favorites to secure their spots in the final four.
