A high-level committee of senior civil servants, led by the Attorney General, has formally submitted its investigation report regarding the shareholdings of MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim confirmed today that the findings are now with the Chief Secretary to the Government for final review. The probe was originally initiated to determine if any legal limits on corporate equity ownership were breached by the nation's top anti-graft official.

The government is currently facing significant pressure from transparency advocates and civil society groups to make the full report public. Critics argue that any perceived delay in releasing the findings could damage public trust in the integrity of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. Government spokespersons have stated that the Cabinet will decide on the next course of action once the Chief Secretary completes his assessment of the recommendations.

In a related move to strengthen the legal system, a new Special Corruption High Court is set to begin operations in Kuala Lumpur this April. Chief Justice Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh noted that this specialized court is designed to expedite high-profile graft trials and centralize complex financial crime cases. This structural reform is part of a broader national strategy to improve the efficiency and transparency of Malaysia's judiciary in handling corruption.
