While high-level peace talks are set to begin in Pakistan, the situation on the ground remains dire. The Lebanese Health Ministry reported that the death toll from Israeli attacks since early March has reached 1,953, with dozens killed and hundreds injured in recent strikes. In Beirut, the Red Cross has described a state of chaos, with rescue workers still attempting to reach victims trapped under the rubble of heavily bombarded residential areas.

Iranian state media issued a stern warning today, stating that Tehran will officially withdraw from the current ceasefire if the bombardment of Lebanon continues. Meanwhile, across Iran, the government has used this brief pause in hostilities to allow for public mourning rituals for the late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whose death in a February airstrike triggered the current regional war.

U.S. officials, including Pete Hegseth, have warned that the United States is prepared to resume strikes if Iran attempts to use the ceasefire period to regroup or fortify its military positions. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has already warned that even if a permanent peace is reached, the economic and social scars of this conflict will permanently alter the global landscape.
