National badminton legend Datuk Rashid Sidek has expressed concerns over Malaysia's ability to end its 34 year wait for the Thomas Cup. Speaking ahead of the Finals scheduled for April 24 to May 3 in Horsens, Denmark, Rashid noted that Malaysia's men's singles lineup faces a significant disadvantage compared to countries with multiple top 10 players. He highlighted that top national singles players like Leong Jun Hao have struggled with early eliminations in major tournaments throughout the year.

Despite these concerns, the presence of Lee Zii Jia in the squad is seen as a vital boost for team morale. However, the coaching staff, led by Herry Iman Pierngadi, is currently managing a "knee issue" involving doubles specialist Man Wei Chong. The medical team's assessment in the coming days will be critical in determining the final strategy for the doubles department before the team departs for Denmark.

Malaysia has been handed what analysts describe as a "favourable draw" in Group B, where they will compete against Japan, England, and Finland. While Japan remains the primary rival in the group, the national team must secure a top two finish to advance to the knockout stages.
