The Sabah Ministry of Youth and Sports Development has announced the distribution of 2,000 free tickets for the second leg of the MFL Challenge Cup final between Sabah FC and Penang FC. The match is scheduled to take place this Sunday, April 19, at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu. Minister Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan stated that the move is intended to rally local support and create an intimidating atmosphere for the visiting team.
These free tickets will be distributed starting Saturday morning at the Sabah Sports Board (SSB) office on a first come, first served basis. The excitement in the state is palpable, as a win would mark Sabah FC's most significant trophy since their Premier League title in 2019. The state government is also reportedly considering a special "winning bonus" for the players if they manage to secure the cup in front of the home crowd.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is expected to attend the final, which is being treated as a major sporting event for the state. Security and logistics at Likas Stadium have been upgraded to accommodate the expected capacity crowd. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to support the "Rhinos" in their quest for domestic silverware.
