Malaysia has achieved a global breakthrough in sports technology with the launch of the world's first AI-powered instant review system (IRS) for badminton to receive BWF approval. Developed by local firm Revealtek Sdn Bhd, the "Reveal Lens" system uses advanced cameras to deliver line call decisions within seconds. It was recently deployed at the Petronas National Under 18 Championships, proving that elite officiating technology can be brought to grassroots competition at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems.

In football, former Arsenal and Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil visited Malaysia for a leadership summit, where he encouraged the country to invest heavily in youth academies to elevate national standards. Ozil stressed that a long-term commitment to a structured football ecosystem is the only way for Malaysian players to make a consistent mark on the world stage. His visit has reignited discussions about the direction of local football development following recent international setbacks.

Meanwhile, local football academy Inter United FC from Keningau celebrated a successful preseason friendly sweep against TBKK FC, winning across three different age categories. However, at the national level, Harimau Malaya faces significant challenges after being withdrawn from the CAFA Cup due to logistical and player availability issues. These developments highlight the ongoing contrast between grassroots enthusiasm and the structural hurdles facing professional football in the country.
