Ultras Malaya has officially launched "Phase 1" of an immediate boycott against all matches involving the Malaysian national football team. The influential supporters' group issued a stern ultimatum to the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), setting a deadline of August 31, 2026, for three core demands to be met. This drastic move stems from deep seated frustrations regarding national team governance and the integrity of the player naturalisation process.

The primary demand involves the revocation of citizenship for seven naturalised players including Joao Figueiredo, Jon Irazabal, and Hector Hevel following a major scandal where FIFA confirmed the use of falsified documents to prove their eligibility. The group is also demanding that the management of Harimau Malaya be returned entirely to FAM and that a total structural reform of the national football ecosystem be implemented. They argue these steps are necessary to protect the "sovereignty and dignity" of Malaysian football after FIFA imposed heavy fines and 12 month bans on the implicated players.

If these demands remain unaddressed by the August deadline, Ultras Malaya has threatened to escalate to "Phase 2," which would involve a comprehensive boycott impacting the entire Malaysia League (M-League)ecosystem. While some local football legends have questioned the authority of fan groups to issue such ultimatums, others warn that ignoring the "12th man" could severely damage the team's morale ahead of the 2026 ASEAN Hyundai Cup. The move has ignited a nationwide debate on whether such a boycott is a necessary "shock to the system" or a harmful disruption to the national squad.
