In a major move toward sustainable sports, Malaysia is reportedly in the early stages of exploring a bid to host a Formula E race in the near future. Following the success of previous street circuits in the region, the Ministry of Youth and Sports is looking into the feasibility of a Kuala Lumpur street race to promote electric vehicle (EV) technology. This initiative aligns with the national green agenda and aims to put Malaysia back on the map as a premier destination for international open-wheel racing beyond the traditional Sepang Circuit.

On the local front, the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) is currently bustling with preparations for the upcoming Malaysia Superbike Championship. Local riders are taking advantage of open track sessions to fine-tune their machines, with a significant increase in entries from independent teams this season. This surge in participation is being hailed by racing enthusiasts as a sign of a healthy recovery for the domestic two-wheel racing scene, which serves as a vital stepping stone for talent aiming for the MotoGP world stage.

Meanwhile, grassroots karting is seeing a boost with the launch of a new "Talent Identification Program" supported by the Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM). This program is specifically designed to find the next generation of drivers from diverse backgrounds, providing them with subsidized access to professional karting equipment and coaching. By lowering the financial barriers to entry, Malaysia hopes to cultivate a deeper pool of racing talent that can eventually compete in high-level continental series like the Asian Le Mans or Formula Regional.
