Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has strongly dismissed online allegations claiming that he arbitrarily granted Malaysian citizenship to Chinese nationals. Describing the claims as malicious, defamatory, and politically motivated, Saifuddin stressed that all applications undergo rigorous security vetting. He clarified via Facebook that the approval process strictly complies with procedures outlined in the Federal Constitution rather than any political agenda.

The controversy arose after viral social media posts alleged a sudden influx of citizenship approvals for foreign nationals without proper documentation. Saifuddin explained that the ministry processes long standing backlog applications transparently, prioritizing individuals who meet strict legal criteria. The National Registration Department has also been directed to take legal action against those spreading false narratives that compromise national security.

Government representatives have urged the public to verify information through official channels before sharing speculative content online.
